Being a Wisconsin sports fan sucks, kind of. The Packers had a season where they lost on the final drive almost every other game. The Brewers seemed destined for nothing more than a .500 season. The Bucks are lost without Michael Redd. And the Wisconsin football team was a joke. So in these winter months, we're left with nothing but the Badgers and Marquette. Marquette is holding up to their end of the deal of giving us something to cheer about, while the Badgers are just following the lead of the rest of this state's sports teams.The Badgers deserve plenty of credit for their effort in their 64-63 loss to Purdue on Tuesday night, but ultimately it was another close loss for this team, their fifth loss in a row. That's a stretch Bo Ryan hasn't experienced since a stretch at UW-Platteville in the mid-80s. Yikes.
Purdue lead for most of the first half in this one, but lead by Keaton Nankivil's 21 points (5-5 from beyond the arc) the Badgers looked like they could send the Kohl Center fans home happy. However, Purdue was on a mission tonight, and a couple of quick three point shots gave them the lead.
Now, I've been saying all season long that the Badgers need a guy to take the last shot, and Jordan Taylor tried to be that guy with a left handed jumper at the 5.5 second mark that would have tied the game at 62, but it was no good. Purdue sweeps the season series for the second year in a row, and the Badgers have lost five straight. Shoulder shrug and a deep sigh.
Maybe Collin is right. The Marquette Channel?

The Badgers really gave a hell of an effort last night. I know they're struggling right now but I'm really proud of them.
Marquette is something else this season. I was worried that Notre Dame would win at home after a loss but the Warriors (yep, I said it) stayed within themselves & finished the game off.
Too bad Big Red doesn't have a guy like Jerel McNeal.
That would be the greatest name change of all time.
You gotta give some props to Purdue. Shooting over 60 percent throughout a game is going to be tough to stop anytime. Being at the game, every time the badgers needed a stop on the defensive end, Purdue would come through with a clutch shot. With Bohannon in a slump, the badgers don't really have a go to outside shooter. Nankivil stepped up big, but I'm sure that's not going to happen every game. To look to the bright side, our future looks pretty solid with Taylor, Morris, Leuer, and Nankivil and the addition of Evan Anderson and possibly Vander Blue unless he goes to Marquette.
