The Bucks (3-3) started out last nights game in a scoring flurry with Richard Jefferson quickly scoring 14 points on 6-6 shooting with in the first 5 minutes of the game. At one point the Bucks were up 15 on the Defending World Champion Boston Celtics (5-1). A win was not in the cards however, as Boston rallied back to have a monster 2nd quarter and eventually went on to win 101-89 in Boston. Blocked shots and poor shooting inevitably hurt the Bucks. Even after Jefferson's fast start he only managed 6 points the rest of the way, finishing with 20. CV ended up with a double double, achieving 13 and 12. Bogut, Ridnour and Sessions all scored in double figures.
A few thoughts. Tonight, it was obvious the Bucks missed Redd's scoring ability. Once Jefferson began to get locked down that meant that CV had to take way more shots than he should be doing. It's going to be hard for the Bucks to win any night Charlie V goes 6-17 from the field. Charlie Bell does play decent defense but, tonight he was virtually non-existent on offense. You could bring on Sessions to play some SG or go with the dual PG's which worked well the other night, but I would much rather have Sessions scoring off the bench.
The Bucks key bench players Elson, Mbah a Moute, and Sessions all had plus/minuses of -13, -19, and -16 respectively. This was mostly going up against Boston's bench as well. That is not pretty and down right disappointing after coming out so strongly.
I really like Sessions, and think he's going to be a great player but I have to knock him for his defensive lapses and TO's. The most frustrating part is that they have seemed to occur at the most inopportune moments this year. For example, he went back to back last night with bad, lackadaisical passes that were taken the other way for quick baskets in the fourth period as the Bucks were making a run. He is learning and so far his scoring and passing skills have offset his boneheaded mistakes but it is a little frustrating. No doubt something Skiles is constantly working on.
Lastly, Joe Alexander has seen some playing time lately. Its obvious he isn't ready yet. He has an amazing skill set, is extremely athletic and a hard worker. That is usually enough to carve out a pretty good NBA career but right now he is just way too raw. He plays too fast for his own good, and doesn't seem to sync up at all with other Bucks yet. In a few years I really think Alexander will be a good player, maybe not an all-star but definitely a good player. It's just going to take some time.
TBC's Buck Of The Game: Goes to Richard Jefferson by default. While CV did have a double-double, his 6-17, 35% shooting hurt the Bucks dearly when scoring was needed.

It shoud be noted that RJ also got the Player of the Game in the win over the Wizards this week.
