Bucks 'Rise' To Occasion Against Ailing Spurs

Hey, how about that win!?! Eh Bucks fans? The Bucks (4-5) shrugged off a slow first half to explode in the second and then hold off the Spurs (2-5) 82-78 at home Wednesday night. Box score me.

The Bucks finished down 12 at the half, cut it to six after the third and then went on to outscore the Spurs 29-19 in the fourth. Bucks leading scorer was Jefferson with 19 points, while Bogut had 10 points, 17 boards, 4 dimes, and 3 steals while having zero TO's. Mbah a Moute, Sessions and Ridnour all scored in double figures. Charlie Villanueva left the game tonight(came off the bench), with a left hamstring injury. He was questionable but never returned, I'm sure it's nothing more than a day-to-day thing in my totally unqualified injury opinion.

What a great win. Granted it was against the Spurs who were missing both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili but the Bucks were without Redd as well. Injuries aside the first half was really a story of poor shooting again, and the Spurs hitting their fair share of treys. The second half was a much different story however. Duncan and company managed only one 3-pointer and the Bucks picked up the scoring.

It is amazing what happens when Bogut stays out of foul trouble. I realize he had 5 fouls but he picked up 3 quick fouls towards the end of the game inside the last 1:30. Also it should be noted Luc Richard Mbah a Moute got the start over CV tonight. A move I really like because it allows the Bucks to start off with a better defensive team and brings a scoring threat off the bench.

Ramon Session look phenomenal tonight. Just phenomenal. The bucks made a 21-2 run at one point when the Bucks had Mbah a Moute, Bogut, Jefferson, Bell, and Sessions on the court. Sessions looked very impressive and opened alot of scoring opportunities up with his drive and kick style and taking the ball to the rim several times. Jefferson hit several key shots during that stretch. Luc and Andrew cleaned up the boards and had nice put backs after reloads.

It was truly a sight to see, the Bucks playing as a TEAM. That sounds so good I'll say it again. The Bucks played like a team, and one that will tough to beat if they continue that type of play.

It was kind of interesting, the Bucks kicked it up a notch and took a little page out of the D'Antoni playbook but running a run and gun type offense for a stretch in the 4th and it was effective. Now it's not something I would expect the Bucks to do all season, but it could definitely but a key tactic against teams that love to slow the game down.

As a team the Bucks were on the plus side of things they have been on the minus side in the past few games. They made 11 more free throws than the Spurs, had only 7 To's all game, and had 5 less fouls than the Spurs. The Bucks continued to look great in the offensive rebound catagory by grabbing 14 reloads.

On an unrelated note, I had to bring this up, if only because I can't remember anything like this ever. Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard had 30 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks tonight. That is just sick.

The Bucks get the Memphis Grizzlies (change your team name already) Friday night in Memphis at 7:00 pm. The Grizzlies are 3-5.

TBC's Buck of the Game: Andrew Bogut. Lots of deserving players, Sessions playing great, Mbah A Moute shutting down Duncan for most of the game, or Jefferson for scoring 19. But with Bogut grabbing 17 rebounds, staying out of foul trouble and being an inside scoring presence with 10 points he has to win. Plus his thunderous one handed put back was an energizer for the Bucks.

This win was big but we will be tested in the next week and i think Redd should be back saturday so thats when we will find out if this season will be good or bad. About Dwights big night that was sick but Mbah A Moute will make Howards look like Winkler when we play the magic.

MBAH A MOUTE will win the ROY this year write that down.
