Philadelphia Hart-Break

I couldn't find a picture of the aforementioned Corey Hart, but bare with me. Some people might decided to place the blame on CC Sabathia for giving up 5 runs in the 2nd inning, including a Grand Slam to Shane Victorino (sidebar: I hate no one more in the majors than Shane Victorino. He looks like that punk in your homeroom that wears a wallet chain and is always jamming to a Sony Walkman.) However, I place the blame once again on the offense, who so far have only been able to manage 3 runs in 2 games.

The main reason for those struggles in the Brewers 5-2 loss to the Phillies begin and end with Corey Hart. I honestly don't know what his problem his, but in this last month and one half, he has looked like the worst baseball player to ever take the field. It hurts me to write this, because he's one of my favorite Brewers, but it's the truth. I really think if Kapler never gets hurt, he's starting these games right now and the Brewers fate may be different.

The Brewers were able to strike first tonight as J.J. Hardy walked with the bases loaded. With one out, Corey Hart then stepped to the plate and quickly grounded into a double play. Once again, it's something everyone saw coming, but still tough to witness.

After that, the Brewers just couldn't get much going with their bats. This time Brett Myers was the hero both on the mound and at the plate. Myers practically got a standing ovation every time he fouled off a pitch from CC Sabathia in the 4th, which had to be one of the most annoying moments on TBS, ever (and that is counting Tyler Perry's House of Payne. It was truly that annoying.)

So for the second straight night, it was one inning that put the Phillies ahead on the scoreboard, and it was nine tough innings at the plate that kept the Brewers out of the game. Happy to be in the playoffs? As Sarah Palin would say, you doggone betcha. But now that we are in the dance, why not shake things up and make some noise?

The series will now come back to Miller Park for game three, and hopefully a game four. If the Brewers somehow find enough offense to find the next two games, the series would head back to Philadelphia and Sabathia could get his revenge. It may be an unlikely scenario at this point, but so was making the playoffs.

I think we can do it.

In other news, how about this Cubs collapse! They were 10-3 losers Thursday night to the Dodgers. I can't wait to see what their excuse is this season if they bow out early, although they are now 0-8 in games Dick Stockton announces. We love you, Dick!

Box Score.

TBC's Player of the Game: J.J. Hardy
