Packers Make Some Moves I Don't Like At All

As it says right on his Facebook page, Jon Ryan is looking for a new employer. The reason for that is because he was let go by the Packers today, for reasons unknown to me.

I really like Ryan, not just as a player, but he seems to be a pretty level-headed guy. Sure, he wasn't perfect, but I never really felt like we had to worry about how the ball would come off Ryan's foot. He was reliable for us, and got the job done.

However, the Packers appear to like Derrick Frost better, formerly of the Redskins. The numbers lean in Ryan's direction, and Frost almost seems like a project, so I'm not sure what the thinking was behind this one.

The other move the Packers made was the signing of a long snapper in Brett Goode. That's all fine and dandy, but to make room for him on the roster, Abdul Hodge was released. That just doesn't make any sense to me. I was thrilled when the Packers kept those seven linebackers, because all of them deserved to be on this team. Now, we're letting go of a guy who could have been an impact player this season, and a starter in the years to come.

Not quite sure of either of these moves, but Ted Thompson has one more "G.M. of the Year" award than I do, so we'll see I guess.
