Yeah, it's only one game, but I couldn't think of a better result for the Brewers in their game Tuesday night against the Reds. If it weren't for Favre, the Brewers dugout fight would have been the most played video on ESPN today, and it looks like they'll put that video to bed after the Crew took care of business, 8-1.
For the first time in days, the Brewers offense was rolling and they were scoring runners in scoring position. Things got started early with a Corey Hart two run triple in the 1st. The Brewers added six more from there, including a bomb from Prince Fielder in the 7th. There you go Prince, take out your anger on the ball, not on Manny Parra's sweet little baby face.
I had pegged this as the game for the Brewers to lose this series, as Dave Bush had to match wits against Edinson Volquez. But Bush was the better pitcher tonight, going 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 7. Shouse and Gagne then took care of things in the 8th and 9th (Gagne lowered his ERA to 6.35!)
Great win from the Crew, but off to bed they must go. Early game tomorrow in Cincy, start time 11:35am.
Box Score.
TBC's Player of the Game: Thought about Corey Hart, but let's give credit to Dave Bush for outpitching Volquez.
