You gotta lose sometime, right? The Brewers came into Thursday's matinee against the Padres with an 8 game win streak, but ultimately found themselves on the losing ends at the hand of Jake Peavy. Peavy was able to outdeal Ben Sheets on way to victory, even though Sheets was cruising until the 7th inning, in which he gave up three runs.
That would be enough for San Diego, as the Brewers managed to put up just two runs on the scoreboard. The first came from a Mike Cameron single, as Bill Hall was able to slide in safely at home. Mike Cameron would add a solo shot in the 9th, but the Brewers didn't have enough juice to muster the comeback.
Ryan Braun sat out his 5th straight game, as he was replaced by Laynce Nix. Nix went 0 for 4 in his first big league action this year, but did have an outstanding catch in the 7th inning. Still, it'd be nice to get Brauny back in there soon.
Expect to see him back sometime this weekend, as the Brewers now travel to L.A. for a three game set against the Dodgers.
